You can query the database using the three visualisation tools (which are accessed from the main menu)
- Welfare hazards and consequeces (all users)
- Iceberg indicators (registered users)
- Indicator selection (registered users)
- Basic combination of welfare indicators (registered users)
- Advanced combination of welfare indicators (registered users)
In each tool, you first select the species and class of farm animal. For example, pigs > unweaned piglets.
The visualisations use ‘slicers’ to specify which section of the database is of interest. A slicer works just like a filter in Excel.
You can make a single selection within a slicer by clicking on it (your selection will be highligted in blue). This selection can be toggled on and off by clicking the selection again.
You can also make multiple selections within a slicer by holding down the control key whilst clicking.
If you wish to clear ALL selections for a SINGLE slicer: click the ‘clear selections’ icon in the top right-hand corner of its container.
If you wish to clear ALL selections for ALL slicers: click the orange eraser icon in the pane in the bottom left-hand corner of the visualisation.
Where the results of a query are listed in a table, it is sometimes possible to sort columns in alphabetical order. These columns have a small triangle icon next to the column header as you hover the mouse over them.
For example, in the ‘icebreg indicators’ tool, it is possible to sort the tabulated data in the ‘indicator ease of use’ and ‘indiator resources’ columns. This helps to visualise groups of indicators that are easy and cheap to use vs. those which are difficult and expensive to use.
To obtain an enlarged view, it is possible to click the ‘focus mode’ icon in the top right-hand corner of the container.
