Optimal selection of welfare indicators

This ‘workbench’ is intended for use by advanced users only.

Detailed information on the development of the underlying algorithm can be found in our published paper.

The code is published under a creative commons licence and can be accessed in our GitHub repository.

You can optimise on the combination of welfare indicators on the basis of meta-data such as ‘ease of hazard mitigation’, ‘impact of welfare hazard’, ‘ease of indicator use’ and ‘indicator resource requirements’. The underlying algorithm seeks combinations of welfare indicators that maximise the associated number of welfare hazard x welfare consequence combinations (addressing both risks to welfare and their consequences). The relative importance of welfare hazards:welfare consequences can be tuned using the ‘Hazard:consequence ratio’ slider.
